Den Haag Touch Newsletter

Dear Touch players,

We are at the beginning of a great touch season and it will only get better, because the temperature can only go up from now.

Besides the Wednesday training at HRC there are a lot of things planed for the coming season, see the highlights below;

April

The North Sea Touch Series in The Hague

Rotterdam Tournament

Paris (Meudon) - Ladies Tournament

May and onwards

Paris: GIF Tournament

The North Sea Touch Series in Belgium & Luxembourg

Budapest Tournament

The European Touch Championships in Italia

Den Haag Touch Tournament

As you may know, last November we had our first Annual General Meeting.

At the AGM we appointed the Board of Directors and committee members:

Board of Directors:

Chairman: Yofi

Secretary: Marianne

Treasurer: Sander

Committee members:

Contact for NTRB: Wema

Event/Party committee: Anna and Sephora (she will leave the Netherlands soon)

Tournament committee: Marianna, Anna and Juliette

As you see, Sephora will leave us soon, so we can use some volunteers to help out Anna with the Event/Party committee. If you feel like helping out with a committee, or help with arranging tournaments, please send an email to denhaagtouch@gmail

Furthermore, the proposed yearly membership fee of EUR 20,- per member was accepted by all present members (it will be invoiced soon). The membership includes Touch games / trainings on Wednesday evening at the HRC grounds. This excludes participation in tournaments, leagues and fee’s for the NTRB. Social games in Westbroekpark (on Saturday) do not fall under this membership.

New players can train 3 times with Den Haag Touch before signing up. If a player joins during the second half of the year only half of the annual fee needs to be paid.

In order to join an externally organised tournament as part of the Den Haag Touch team you will need to become a member.

The yearly fee and tournament/league costs will be reviewed in next years AGM.

If you didn’t sign up yet, you can find the link to the Membership form 2012 on this page.

We hope that this will be another great season of Touch.

See you on the field!

Yofi, Marianne & Sander

Benelux Cup Results

On Saturday the team travelled up to Amstelveen to take part in another 3-way tournament with the teams from Belgium and Amsterdam. Despite difficult conditions - rain, mud and some epic hangovers, and a poor opening game which involved us getting thumped by Amsterdam, we pulled off a good win against Belgium and started to put together a few decent performances. Overall we placed 2nd, losing to Amsterdam in the final 4 -2.

Barcelona Result!

Paul's email about the Barcelona tournament:

------------STOP THE PRESS--------------

Den Haag Touch win "Silver Cup" in Barcelona... or is that Sitges...?

Captain fantastic - "The Lau" has legendary run in the final game... but we weren't playing at the time... ask him about it...

Kev "scores"...  possibly twice... ask him about it...

Wenjing, Anna and Lee show incredible stamina...  on and off the pitch...

Sam "the leopard man" is ref of the tournament... and "Cougar" magnet...

Napper is defensive legend... and scored a few as well...

Yofi scored on the pitch, pulled on the beach... and "blew off" speedo man... much to the disappointment of the ladies...

I was quiet throughout... ...honest...

Special mention to the "management" - Grimmer...

...And the "support" - Nappers wife and kids...

The Facts - Open Mixed Scores:

4-2 win v Cornella (or was it 4-1...?)
12-0 win v Sitges C
3-2 loss v Valencia

2nd in group through to "Silver Cup" finals

5-0 win v Laguna
2-0 win v Toulouse

"Silver Cup" winners and 4th overall out of 12 teams !!

Valencia went on to win the "Gold Cup" by beating grasshoppers of London 3-2 in the final...  Draw your own conclusions.

Back next year for more of the same...

...but before then it's off to Brussels...
